Stuart McNeil is a Senior Lecturer for the Cardiff Metropolitan University, within the Department of Applied Computing and Engineering in the Cardiff School of Technologies where he is a Senior Lecturer for the Computing for Interaction - BSc (Hons) Degree, Computing with Creative Design - BSc (Hons) Degree, BSc Software Engineering , BSc Computing and BSc Business Information Systems Undergraduate programmes. Additionally, Stuart is the Module Leader for MSc and BSc Technology Project Management. Stuart is a Member of the British Computer Society, Human Computer Interface group; Member of the Association for Computing Machinery – Special Interest group and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Stuart has previously worked within the interactive media sector for numerous years and gained awards which included a BAFTA. Working with some international organisations and some of the UKs leading companies, such as: The European Commission; Foreign & Commonwealth Office; The Patent Office (Intellectual Property Office UK); Central Office of Information; GEC Marconi; General Electric (GE); Rockwool; Amec (Wood); Elf Oil (Total); British Telecom (BT); Docklands Light Railway (DLR); East of Scotland Water; Scottish Power; Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (DCWW); South Wales Electricity Board (SWALEC/SSE); South West Electricity Board (SWEB/Western Power); Hyder(Arcadis); Highways Agency; Gwent Police; The Millennium Commission
Stuart's industrial experience focused on developing creative solutions to the interactive problems , this real-world experience ignited a drive to attain the highest of standards in design practice. Stuart was the Managing Director of Deft Design for 17 years , this experience proved foundational in the understanding of directing a company and managing creative and highly skilled teams and projects.
Additionally, Stuart was a founding charity director and trustee of ‘Pedestrian Arts’ Charitable Non-Profit National Arts Company for 13 years.Judicially, Stuart reviews papers for and is a member of the British Computer Society, Human Computer Interface group and has been a Judge for BAFTA, The Golden Pixel Awards and the Celtic Film Festival . Additionally, Stuart has held numerous External Examiner and Moderator roles at many universities around the world, and worked with many notable Higher Education Institutions including: Glasgow Caledonian University, Staffordshire University, Gulf College (Oman), University of Ulster, University of West London, Arab Academy for Science and Technology (Eygpt, Alexandia and Cario), East Asia Institute of Management (Singapore), International College of Business and Technology (Sri Lanka, Columbo and Kandy) , London School of Commerce (Malaysia and UK), Superior Institutions of Science and Technology (Morocco, Casablanca). These have seen him attain a global perspective into Computing, Information Systems, Software Engineering and Design.
